Barney’s Karahiwala Restaurant sits in a busy strip mall in Surrey's Fleetwood area, offering a focused experience rooted in traditional Pakistani and Indian flavors. This full-service restaurant draws in families and groups looking for hearty, authentic meals that remind them of home or introduce them to classic South Asian comfort food.

The atmosphere feels straightforward and unpretentious, prioritizing the food over fancy décor. The space is clean and welcoming, designed to accommodate small gatherings and family dinners rather than intimate dates or solo visits. It’s a spot you’d pick for a casual dinner where the star is the kitchen, not the setting.

The menu centers on time-honored dishes like various karahis (including Peshwari Goat and Lahori Kadhayi Chicken Karahi), chicken biryani, and a range of grills such as chicken malai boti and lamb kebabs. These offerings resonate with customers craving rich, familiar spices and tender meats that might remind them of meals back home. Items like garlic naan and raita complement the mains well, rounding out the dining experience. A weekend buffet is also available, where patrons can sample a wider range of flavors—including delicate nihari and paya—that many find surprisingly consistent given the price point.

Visitors can expect attentive service, often handled by a small familiar team who seem personally invested in maintaining a good standard—something appreciated by regulars. The restaurant trades on the quality and authenticity of its dishes rather than modern twists or presentation flair.

That said, some practical details suggest it’s still a work in progress. There have been notes about limited availability of some popular dishes at times, and the facilities, such as the washroom, can fall short of what you might expect in a full-service restaurant. This doesn’t detract hugely from the overall experience but is worth keeping in mind when planning a visit.

Who will enjoy it most? Barney’s Karahiwala will appeal to those seeking traditional Pakistani and Indian cuisine prepared with care—especially families and groups who want reliable, soul-satisfying flavors at reasonable prices.

Best time to visit? Weekends, when the buffet runs, seem like a good bet to sample a variety of dishes and get a fuller sense of the kitchen’s capabilities. For quieter dinners, weekday evenings work well, though it’s smart to check availability, as some signature dishes may sell out.

Overall, Barney’s Karahiwala stands out as a dependable stop for those craving authentic karahi and other classic dishes in a straightforward, family-friendly environment within Surrey’s diverse dining scene.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I want to give a special review for Karahi Wala, especially to Sahil and Ayesha. We ordered Shinwari Karahi, Malai Boti, and Fish Pakora, and everything was on point. The Shinwari Karahi had rich flavour, soft meat, and that perfect traditional taste. The Malai Boti was juicy and creamy, cooked just right. The Fish Pakora was crisp on the outside and soft inside, with no oily taste at all. You can tell they put real effort into every dish. What touched us the most was their attitude. Sahil and Ayesha were so kind hearted and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They treated us like guests, not customers. They checked on us without being pushy and made sure everything was perfect. It felt comfortable and genuine. This kind of service along with such tasty food is hard to find. We will definitely be coming back and recommending Karahi Wala to family and friends.

Today I have visited Barney’s Buffet, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant is now under the new ownership of Sahil, and it’s clear that he has been maintaining the place with great care and attention. The ambiance felt clean, welcoming, and comfortable for families as well as groups. The highlight of my visit was definitely the food quality. Among all the dishes, the goat paya, nihari stood out the most flavorful, perfectly cooked, and rich with authentic spices. It reminded me of traditional home style cooking. The chana masala was another favorite, well-seasoned, nicely textured. You can tell the chefs put real effort into getting the taste right. There was also a good variety of items available on the buffet, and everything looked fresh and well prepared. The staff were polite and attentive, making sure the trays were refilled on time and helping guests with anything they needed. Overall, my visit to Barney’s Buffet was a pleasant experience. With its delicious dishes, especially the goat paya and chana masala, along with great service and improved management under Sahil, this buffet is definitely worth trying along with reasonable price I would happily visit again and recommend it to others looking for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

I went for their weekend buffet and was amazed by the quality of the food at such a reasonable price. Usually, buffet diners focus on one or two dishes and neglect the rest, but Barney’s Karahiwala was excellent. Every single item exceeded my expectations. The potato and chickpea dish was spectacular, and the Nihari and Paya were out of this world—especially the Nihari, with its incredibly tender meat. The Halwa was just perfect—not too sweet or oily—and the naan and puri were some of the freshest I’ve had. Even the raita had a perfectly balanced taste. Finally, the matka chai was splendid. The hint of masala and cardamom made it truly delightful. I hope they maintain this great quality consistently. I’ll definitely try to visit them every other week.

The Best Pakistani Restaurant in Surrey! If you’re craving authentic Pakistani food, this place is an absolute gem. Everything here is Halal, and the flavors instantly took me back home. I tried their Koila Karahi, Cheese Naan, Keema Naan, and Chicken Seekh Kebab — and honestly, each dish was soul-satisfying! It felt like tasting a piece of Pakistan right here in Surrey, something I’d been missing for so long. They truly filled that void with their amazing food. The prices are very reasonable considering the taste, quality, and generous portions they offer. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, making it a perfect spot for family dinners or get-togethers with friends. The staff is extremely cooperative and welcoming, which adds to the overall great experience. I’m already looking forward to exploring more dishes from their menu. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic, flavorful Pakistani cuisine! ????????

Ordered their karahi and naan. Shinwari karahi was very good. Their bathroom is very nasty and no tissue. They had alot of things on the menu but they were out of almost everything.

We had a great experience dining here! The food was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the Koila Karahi, Garlic Naan, and Rogni Naan, and everything was full of flavour and served piping hot. The service was quick too, our food arrived within 30 minutes. A special shoutout to Arpan who took our order; she was incredibly kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. Would definitely come back again!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant, and I must say it was one of the warmest dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel a sense of comfort and hospitality that is rare to find these days — and the credit goes entirely to the amazing owners, Sahil and his wife Aisha. Both of them are incredibly welcoming, humble, and down-to-earth people. They greet every guest with genuine warmth, as if you are stepping into their own home rather than a business. They check on you personally, make sure you are comfortable, and truly put their heart into ensuring every visitor leaves happy. That level of sincerity is something money cannot buy, and it is exactly what makes this place so special. The atmosphere of the restaurant reflects their personalities — cozy, clean, inviting, and full of positive energy. You can immediately tell that a lot of love and effort goes into running this place. The staff follow the same attitude of kindness and professionalism, clearly inspired by the owners’ example. The food is nothing short of amazing. Every dish tastes fresh, carefully prepared, and full of authentic flavor. You can feel that the cooking comes from passion, not just routine. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the quality is consistently impressive. What touched me the most was how Sahil and Aisha treat every guest with respect and gratitude. They remember returning customers, they pay attention to small details, and they genuinely care about people. In a time when many restaurants rush customers in and out, this place stands out because they value human connection just as much as good food. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. It’s not just about eating — it’s about feeling welcomed, appreciated, and treated like family. Thank you, Sahil and Aisha, for creating such a beautiful environment and for your dedication to serving the community with kindness and excellence. I will definitely be coming back again and again.

We ordered the Shinwari Karahi with naan. The karahi was flavorful — adding a few whole green chilies would make it even better. Naan was a bit too thin for our liking. Overall, a good experience. Just wish the bathroom was cleaner — that would really elevate the place.
